World Wide Hearing Foundation Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

This information applies to all World Wide Hearing sites. These include: wwhearing.org and globalhearingloss.org.

Thank you for visiting the website owned and operated by the World Wide Hearing Foundation (World Wide Hearing) hosted on Squarespace.

This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make a donation from either  www.globalhearingloss.org or www.wwhearing.org  (together referred to as “Site”).

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

If you choose to access, visit and/or use any third party social networking service(s) (“SNSs”) that may be integrated with the Site, we may receive personally identifiable information and other information about you and your computer, mobile or other device that you have made available to those services, including information about your contacts on those services. For example, some social networking services allow you to push content from the Website to your contacts or to pull information about your contacts so you can connect with them on or through the Website. Some social networking services also will facilitate your registration for the Website or enhance or personalize your experience on the Website. Your decision to use a social-networking service in connection with the Website is voluntary. However, you should make sure you are comfortable with the information your third party SNSs may make available to the Website by visiting those services’ privacy policies and/or modifying your privacy settings directly with those services.

SHARE-WITH-A-FRIEND

Subject to the privacy settings you have set in your SNS account, you can email a friend and share certain SNS content or other materials you may choose to share with that friend. If you choose to use this aspect of our services we will ask you for your friend’s name, email address and/or SNS username. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email. This information is for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email.

Currently, World Wide Hearing transmits credit or debit card information to its transaction services provider and does not retain such information (including name, billing address, payment information, and/or email address) on its servers.

When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking about Device Information.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the Personal Information that we collect generally to for the purpose(s) you have submitted. In addition, we may send to you an email offering information which we think you may be interested in or to ask you to participate in a survey. We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

 SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We will not sell the personal information you provide. We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above.  For example, the website is hosted on Squarespace. Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example if you make a donation through the Site or signed up for the newsletter), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above.  Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

DATA RETENTION

When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Personal Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

CHANGES

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.

YOUR ACCEPTANCE

By using and/or visiting the website, you consent and agree to both these terms and conditions (the “terms of use”) and the terms and conditions of our privacy policy, which are published at www.wwhearing.org and which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree to any of these terms, then please do not use the world wide hearing website.
